I met with my sisters at Teina's house on Saturday. I have sure missed them and our adventures together.
We all got to Teinas about 10:00. Her yard is so lovely. You can tell she has inherited mums green thumb. She has red geranium hanging baskets all along the front of the house that are beautiful! Lynn has built some real nice flower beds and their garden is full of colorful perennials. Oh and my favorite was the wash tubs from mums all planted with red geraniums and white alisum. So cute!
The last time they were at mums place, they took all of the photo albums and a few other random things that were still there home with them. So our mission was to get all the pictures out of the books and divide them up between us. There were a quite a few albums...so many pictures! We would each take one and then divide the pictures up into piles depending on who was in the pictures. It was an enjoyable task as we spent the next 7 hours reminiscing over the past 40 years of our lives.
Then there were the books that were full of pictures of mum and daddy's lives. They really told a story of what their lives must have been like growing up...things that were important to them, what they did for fun and for a living.
It was fun to look back at each of our own children and the pictures mum had taken of them growing up. Special events, outings, and just fun times at their house. It made me feel so grateful that my kids had wonderful grand parents, aunts and uncles, and fun cousins to grow up with. There were tons of pictures of the grand kids together at grandmas house. Christmas, Easter, summertime fun, playing in the leaves in the fall, conference get togethers, Thanksgiving, baptisms, blessings, graduations, so many wonderful memories.
All of the books had many pictures of the yard. Tons of pictures of mums begonias. She grew some amazing huge begonias. All the flowers were really so beautiful. They had something pretty special there.
Brenda has an amazing memory and can remember all the relatives names and how they fit into our family tree. She remembers all the neighbors and friends from Providence too. I wish I had that gift. We wrote the names and dates of the people that we knew on the back of all the pictures, then divided them up between us. We couldn't believe it when we looked at the clock and it was 5:00! We still had several stacks of pictures to divide up and hadn't even got to the other things we had brought. So we decided on the next day we could all get together to finish things up. I really wouldn't mind if we didn't finish next time either....I thoroughly enjoy these days spent with my dear sisters.
