After about two weeks of Kelley going right from work over to the new emissions place in American Fork, and working till about 10:00 every night, well I was pretty excited when he said he was going to take the morning off and head up fishing!
After getting skunked the last time we went, we were going to leave nothing to chance. We got up at 4:00 so we could be on the lake when the sun came up...that's when the fish are supposed to be biting! Neither Kelley or I had slept more than an hour the night before, (Kelley's knee is bothering him and I was just doing my normal routine of waking up every hour having a big icky night sweat. Ha! good times! menopause is kicking my butt! how long does this go on?????)
So when we met Dan in Provo at 5:00, he was just like " So Kelley, you really get up this early every day?...really?" I agree it's pretty kooky, but you do get to see a beautiful sunrise, and we were especially lucky that day to see a partial lunar eclipse...very cool!
We went to all the favorite spots...even over to Soldier Creek and didn't even get a bite.
We went back into this cove where we had tried to go last time but there was another boat that had beat us to the spot. We went right up to the end of the cove where it was only about 7 feet deep. There was a lot of fish there! They were jumping all around the boat! We figured if we couldn't catch something there, well, we just pretty much sucked at fishing. Sooooooo, we pretty much suck at fishing. I'm pretty sure the fish were just laughing at us. We would drop the line right next to them...it was so shallow you see them plain as day. But they just swam right past the line. We tried every kind of bait ever made. Nothing. We were ready to give it up and head for a new spot and I felt a little yank on my pole.
This is what I caught. sad. Oh well, it's more than what my fishing buddies caught! HA!We went over to a different area where we have usually had some success and Kelley caught this beauty! It was a big one too! I was glad he caught one cause we didn't have much time left. Kelley needed to get back to work...was feeling guilty about leaving Rick over there alone. So we figured out where our slip was for this year, parked the boat, and headed for home.
Dropped Kelley off so he could go over and work at the emissions place. Wow it doesn't even look like the same place. They have really done a lot to the building and it looks great! Hope Kelley knows how much I appreciate what he is doing to support our family!
He came home later that night pretty much exhausted....fell asleep in his chair but came to life in time to watch the Taylorsville dayz fireworks. We had a perfect spot to watch... right from the swing on our front porch....kind of nice to avoid the crowds and just sit with my sweetie.
First of all, mother nature's light show...can't see it that well, but this was the lunar eclipse.

They always put on an amazing fireworks display!
