Kelley has been looking for some firewood on KSL classifieds.  We ran completely out this winter...I mean every twig. gone.  He came across an ad where a lady said a couple of trees had blown over in that last big wind storm we had and anyone could just come and get the wood.
He went down one day and brought back a trailer full of wood and said he hadn't even made a dent in the wood that was there.  He was telling me how cool this lady's place was and I ought to come see it.
So on Friday, we went back down with him.  (It's in American Fork)  I thought I could carry some logs or something.
This place was just incredible.  It's all surrounded by trees so you wouldn't know how cool it was until you went through the big front gate and down the driveway.  I felt like I was in the secret garden.
Everything was all grown over with ivy and trees and bushes. Kelley had to pull off the ivy and broken branches before he could start sawing the tree into pieces.
The whole yard was full of really cool stuff.  Very ornate gazebo and other structures...in it's day it must have really been something.  This lady had lived there for 27 years, but she wasn't the one who had built any of it.  This place was old...I would think it was built in the early 1900's.  She told Kelley that her and her husband had moved there and had turned the back yard into a junk yard for motorcycles.  He sold parts and had quite a good business going.  Then he got into drugs and the whole thing went to pot.  She said they had gotten a divorce and she just lived there with her daughter now.  We walked around the back (this place was huge!  two acres) and saw the remains of his business.  It looked like at one time, he must have had a good business going there.  There were still tons of motorcycle parts all organized, but disintegrating from being out in the weather.  There was a ton of really cool antiques back there too.  I think she could make a bunch of money if she had the American Pickers come check it out!

This little log cabin was in the back yard too...I peeked in the window and it was full of old stuff.

This little house had a sign on it that said "Coal House"  I mean this place was the real deal.  There were the remains of an old outhouse on the side of the house too.
There was an old Jaguar in the back yard that was covered.  We peeked underneath and it was in pristine condition.  This old MG was on the side of the house...not in as good of condition, but still very cool!

This old carriage and sleigh were  just there on the back porch.

I could imagine this place belonging to some prominent family who had a bunch of money to make this place a real showplace.  There are several courtyards all paved with brick and some really cool statues and pillars.

There were these incredible gas lights in several places around the yard.

The little violets were trying to poke their heads up through the dead leaves and sticks.  I don't think anyone has taken care of this yard for a long long time.
This one was kind of creepy.

You can't really tell here, but this at one time must have been a magnificent flower bed.  It has three levels with stone work dividing them.  Completely overgrown with ivy.

There were several flower beds that must have been really beautiful at one time.  I loved the way the whole place was laid out. Reminded me of mum and daddy's place times ten.  It would sure be fun, if you had a million dollars, to buy this place and get everything back to the way it was a hundred years ago.

Kelley got the trees all cut up the best he could.  I tried to help by rolling the cut pieces to the truck.  Kelley is surely the strongest man I know.  He picked up those big hunks of wood and threw them in the back of the truck and trailer like they were nothing.
