A few more pictures from our last day at the beach....
Love hanging out with this girl...We always have a good time, no matter what we're doing. Made my heart ache thinking about us going our seperate ways the next morning.
Olivia rode the waves all day
Olivia had seen the bicicyles for 4 at the corner shop for rent and wanted to ride one so bad. We checked to see how much it was and it was pretty reasonable so we decided to do it. We got all signed up and ready to take off when the guy at the store said "now you know you can't ride those on the boardwalk" We were like What??? Where are you supposed to ride them then? He said "You can ride them in the street and in the alley ways." Oh boy, this was not what we had in mind! But the kids were already in their seats ready to go so we couldn't really get out of it. Camille and I sat in the back and pedeled and the kids sat in the front. It was harder to pedel than we had anticipated and we just both looked at each other like 'what have we gotten ourselves into' as we pedeled out on to the street. I started out steering, which was not that easy...I'm not going to lie, we almost crashed several times! (Camille steered home thank goodness!) I haven't laughed that hard in probably...ever.
We went down an alley way and then on to the sidewalk on newport blvd. We went along there for a while but it was really hard to go around the poles and things on the sides of the sidewalk so we decided to go out onto the road. It was pretty scary cause cars were whizzing around us and I was pretty sure if we weren't in a bright orange cart, they would run over us.
We had figured we could go down to Balboa and back in an hour and once we got out on the road, we did go a lot faster. It was a real workout though and we were both pooped and totally soaked with sweat by the time we got to Balboa.
We went into the ice cream store on the corner and got treats for all of us. That kind of revived us and we headed back to Newport on the road. I was just praying all the way that no one would hit us. We saw some police on horses and they just waved and cheered us on so I guess people do this all the time. We were about ten minutes past the time we were supposed to be back but they didn't say anything. I think they could see that we had had it and it wouldn't be a good idea to ask us for more money. Ha! I guess you live and learn...(won't be doing that again)
